Sailing skills and fun
For both novice and more experienced dinghy sailors the sessions will help the young person progress through the RYA Stage scheme.
Sessions will include boat handling technique, basic principles of sailing, racing and games.
All equipment is provided

When: Thursday evening, 5:15 – 6:45pm (April – August)
Paddlesport club is about gaining water confidence and learning the art of kayaking and canoeing. The club runs an instructor led session which involves teaching boat handling skills and then playing games and doing activities which help build on skill level each week.
All equipment is provided.
Throughout the season we work on the BCU Paddlepower (Passport and/ or Discovery) or Star awards (1 and/ or 2 Star) depending on age.

Paddlepower fun and skills:
They are run at the Arethusa Watersports Centre, Dock basin No.2, Chatham Maritime.
Pool Sessions:
Using our indoor pool at the Arethusa Venture Centre in Lower Upnor, we look at wet skills in a friendly pool environment.
River Medway Trips:
Journeying on the river is part of the fun of canoeing and kayaking. Trips usually start and finish at the Arethusa Venture Centre.

When: Thursday evening, 7:00 – 8:30pm April – August
Learn basic skills and theory of kayaking and canoeing. Over both terms we aim to help participants achieve BCU 1 and 2 star. If participants have already got their 2 star we encourage you to come along and participate in skills workshops, which may cover more advanced skills
Term 1 – BCU 1 Star – Basic skills
Term 2 – BCU 2 Star – Improver skills

You ARE going to get wet. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, but they also need to be fairly warm. Pair of shorts/ tracksuit + fleece jumper.
