Arethusa Venture Centre Kent - Canoeing - Novice to Expert

Canoeing

At the Arethusa Watersports Centre

Using our enclosed dock basin you will be instructed by Arethusa’s BCU coaches to discover boat handling skills and play games and fun activities to help improve your paddling skills.

Why not try the American Indian style of open canoeing. This watersports activity needs patience and teamwork to master. These boats can also be rafted together if needed for a more stable craft. Great for both able-bodied and disabled participants.

Suitable for: 8yrs +
April - October

On the River

Using the River Medway, Arethusa take groups on either an introductory canoeing session or a river trip.

The river is tidal and provides an enhanced challenge to canoeing in the dockbasin, and is suitable for adults and teenagers.

Introductory river sessions take place outside the Arethusa Venture Centre; our instructors will give a safety brief and then help you discover basic paddling skills or improve your techniques. Skills will then be refined by doing activities and playing games.  A short trip will be incorporated into the session.
River trips take place between Rochester and Arethusa (half day trip), and can also be organised for full days.
